The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

How would you like to visit Hogsmeade and wander down Diagon Alley?  Or maybe shop for the perfect wand? Then the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is the place for you!

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter just opened in Hollywood, California, on April 7, and it is full of streets and rides and buildings that take you back to the world of Harry Potter.  There are all sorts of different things to do at the Wizarding World. You can walk the cobblestone streets of the village, check out the different shops and cafes, and even get a delicious mug of Butterbeer.

The Wizarding World is full of great stores. One shop, named Ollivanders, sells wands of all kinds—and here, the wands choose you. Once you have a wand, you can use it at different, special spots around the park to make a magical thing happen.  J.K. Rowling helped to come up with the spells, too! When you’re ready for a snack, you can stop by Honeydukes, Madam Puddifoot’s tea room, and munch on chocolate frogs and Bernie Bott’s Every-Flavour beans.

And of course, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter has some excellent rides. The Flight of the Hippogriff roller coaster zips around Hagrid’s house and yard, and the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey takes you on a magical adventure with Harry and his friends.

Every detail in the park was very carefully crafted to make you feel like you are in the Harry Potter world. Even the trash cans were hand painted, and if you look closely, you’ll see original props from the movies! (Watch for Hagrid’s motorbike.)  Stop by the post office and send a letter back to you friends with a postmark from Hogsmeade, and be sure to check out the Howler while you’re there.

James Phelps, who played an identical twin in the movie, says, “Reading the books or watching the films, you can imagine what it would be like to be in the world of Harry Potter. Here you can actually live it out.”
